RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Like Camping shadow, I also knew something was up when I logged in and saw all the messages. My heart breaks for you. Charlie had the coloring of my Maicey so I think that is why he always had a special place. God love you.....

You are a strong man Richard. Prayers for all....and yes, in the earlier pictures of Charlie, if a dog could grin, he was doing it. Thank you for going down this road with him.....

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Richard, I really enjoy your memory walks, and the thought of the collars on the tree. When we put our first dog to sleep, I hurt so bad I threw everything away. I saved the last ones collar and am glad I did.
We suffered some effects of IKE here in OH. I have never seen such sustained winds and they were only for about 5-6 hours at only about 70 mph gusts. Many downed trees and limbs. Just makes me have a better appreciation for those that really lived through IKE. We have had no school now for 3 days because they have been unable to get the power on to the schools. We were fortunate and only lost power for about 8 hours. I have spent the last couple of days moving food from freezers and fridges to coolers and other homes with power. God bless those in IKE's way. It must be a mess.

RE: My little Doxie is very sick. Cause unknown.

Just read about Maggie. I am so sorry to hear about it. I'm glad you were with her. Please don't second guess yourself. It was simply her time to go. Take care....

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

You know how you were trying to come up with a name for Charlie like the FOOFs? Since you now have Peaches, I think you should adopt one more and call it Charlie's Angels!

RE: It still hurts a year later

It will be 4 years since we had to have Maddey put to sleep. I can still cry over her. Maicey died 3 years ago, but since she went on her own, the grief is different. We had time to adjust to her dying since she had cancer. Grief is an odd thing. Sometimes I will find myself really missing them for no particular reason or anniversary. A year really isn't long....

Great pictures! Now who says that dogs don't smile? That one of Charlie just shows how happy he is!

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Enjoy the beach....or if not the beach, then the vacation. I have learned in the field of education that I will end up dying an early death if I don't learn that there are perfectly good people out there just waiting to step up the the plate and fill in when necessary. Sometimes they have to be prodded, but they are there. Someone will take care of the situation for you. It may not be how you would have handled it, but it was the way that God intended.....
Get some rest...

RE: Never Say Never..

This is a great story! Although dogs are my personal favorite, I love to hear about cats....especially when they have such happy endings!

RE: Poor Scout (sad)

Oh wow....we leave our back door open all the time. We just recently replaced the sliding screen door. It kept coming off the track, and if the "girls" were outside and wanted in, they had learned how to nose it so it would open. Therefore, the door would end up hanging open half the day. I never thought about other animals coming in! We live in the country and have numerous critters outside. Thanks for the warning....

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Tires worry me so much. On our trip to Mammoth Cave, we passed many TT along the way with blow outs. I always wondered how we would really know if we had one. That is why we replaced our new tires right after we got the Rockwood that we have now. I read too many posts about tires and it scared me! Like others said, campers can be fixed, but boy they are expensive.
Glad that Grady made it home!!
How is Charlie today?

RE: Didn't know where else to go...UPDATED

I hope the vet is able to diagnose quickly for you. I hate the high prices of vet care. My girls are worth it, but I always rack up bills quickly with them. Prayers for you both......
